Tsinghua XIN Center Visits Israel in September, 2015

On September 7th-12th, 2015, XIN center led a visit to Israel including Schwarzman College, The Tsinghua University Institute of Public Security, TusPark Ventures, and ENN Ovation Health. During the trip, the XIN center met with representatives of Ariel University, Tel Aviv University, and the famous Israeli medicine incubator, Alon.

On September 7th 2015, at Ariel University’s invitation, the XIN center visited Ariel University. Peer fellows including Prof. Qingzhong Pan, Executive Vice President of Schwarzman College, Hui Zhang, Vice President of the Institute of Public Security,Yi Jiang, General Manager of the XIN center; Xuan YIN, External Affairs and Cooperation Director of the XIN Center; Yu Zhao, Yu Tian, venterDirector of TusPark Ventures; Qing Qiu, venter Manager, of TusPark Ventures; Hongyu Zhao, Rui Shen of BluePHA project; and Shoumo Zhang of the super lubrication technology project. Igal, regents of Ariel university (former finance minister of Israel); Yehuda, the president of Ariel university; Eyal, General Manager; Albert, Dean of Academy of Science; Yosef, President of the Department of Engineering; Garry, Dean of the Academy of Natural Sciences; Danny, the Director of the Department of Biology Technology; Lior, General Manager of Ariel University technology incubator, and dozen of leaders and professor attended the seminar.

Discussions about the mode and experience of university technology transfer lasted for five hours. XIN center visited the open innovation lab of Ariel University, inspecting electroplating, wine, and plasma group projects. The XIN team also met with artificial intelligence and tissue engineering companies, which were supported by the Ariel University incubator. President Yehuda of Ariel University suggested to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the XIN center, and establish means of cooperation. During the visit, the two sides exchanged gifts, and expressed their desires to establish a long-term partnership.

On September 8th 2015, the XIN center visited Alon Incubator, and communicated with Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, the company’s founder. Peer fellows including Prof. Qingzhong Pan, Executive Vice President of Schwarzman College, Hui Zhang, Vice President of the Institute of Public Security,Yi Jiang, General Manager of the XIN center; Xuan YIN, External Affairs and Cooperation Director of the XIN Center; Yu Zhao, Yu Tian, venter Director of TusPark Ventures; Qing Qiu, venter Manager, of TusPark Ventures; Hongyu Zhao, Rui Shen of BluePHA project; and Shoumo Zhang of the super lubrication technology project. Lei Zhao, CEO of ENN Ovation; and Qing Tang, vice president of the Ovation Health Care Institute. Shimon Eckhouse, founder and chairman of Alon Incubator and well-known Israeli entrepreneur; Assaf, Vice President; Michael, Financial Director, and three CEOs of incubated companies attended the conference.

Three hours were spent discussing new potential models of cooperation between Israeli incubators and hi-tech Chinese companies. Assaf, the Business Vice President of Alon, introduced Alon’s incubation mechanism in detail. Afterwards, Chairman Shimon Eckhouse shared Alon’s successful experiences. Then, three CEOs of incubated companies presented their projects, demos, and shared experience during their incubation period at Alon. On the same day, the XIN Center delegation visited the Alon incubator and innovation space. Chairman Shimon Eckhouse recognized the importance of the Chinese market for Israeli businesses and suggested increasing the level of cooperation between Xin and Alon. He hopes to select XIN center projects to join Alon to build world-class enterprises. During the meeting, Chairman Shimon Eckhouse accepted the invitation of Jiang Yi, general manager of XIN center to attend the second XIN Forum in October.

After the meeting, Dr. Judith Zilberstein, CEO & CTO of Alon, met with BluePHA, which was incubated by XIN center. Topics discussed included the cooperation model between Alon and BluePHA company (which was a model of high-tech innovation enterprises in China), including stock ownership plan, investment plan, and project application in medical and other industries products, authorization, and other details. As a mature Israeli incubator, Alon hoped to provide financial support, corporate transactional and other professional services. The two sides believed that China will have more advanced technology start-up companies in the future in the accelerator.

On September 9th 2015, Yi Jiang, the General Manager of the XIN Center, and Hui Zhang, Vice President of the Public Security Institute, were invited to discuss public safety topics with Tel Aviv University. The two sides hope to establish cooperation initiatives as soon as possible.
