Tsinghua University Successfully Holds XIN Forum 2015

The XIN Forum 2015 was successfully held at Tsinghua University from October 15th to 16th. The main guests attending the forum were as follows: Yong Qiu, President of Tsinghua University; Professor Bin Yang, Vice President of Tsinghua University; Professor Joseph Klafter, President of Tel Aviv University in Israel; Mr. Matan Vilnai, Israeli Ambassador; Mr. Weiguo Zhao, Chairman of Unisplendour Group, and Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, President of Syneron Medical in Israel. In addition, in-depth technical exchanges and innovation discussions were conducted among scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, government officials and industry leaders from China, Israel, and around the world.

President Yong Qiu made a speech during the forum. He highly appreciates XIN's great achievements in promoting cutting-edge technology innovation, developing international academic exchange and cooperation, and exploring international technology transfer models. President Qiu stressed that innovation is the cornerstone of a nation’s competitiveness and the driving force of social advancement. Tsinghua University is working hard to explore new modes of education, to promote creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship and to empower students to take initiative on innovative projects. Additionally, President Qiu emphasized the importance of innovation environment. The establishment of the XIN Center is designed to provide an equal and uninhibited innovation culture for teachers and students by taking advantage of the scientific research strength both at Tsinghua and Tel Aviv University, combined with the world's top business resources. Through XIN, the two universities commit to cultivating a number of outstanding scientists, entrepreneurs, and future international leaders.

President Klafter of Tel Aviv University and Israeli Ambassador Vilnai congratulated XIN's fruitful achievements and wished XIN to become a center of technology transfer and for scientific, technological, business, and cultural cooperation to continue between Israel and China.

The forum reviewed and summarized the progress and achievements of projects which XIN's incubating. Unisplendour Group Chairman Mr. Zhao Weiguo, Syneron Medical President Dr. Shimon Eckhouse and the Head of Economic Development from Israeli Embassy, Mr. Chaim Martin made keynote speeches during the forum.

Two seminars were held in the afternoon on 16th October. Guests had in-depth discussions on XINet, regarding the building of smart buildings/cities and XIN Medical topics. Professors, students, and researchers from Tel Aviv University and Tsinghua University made academic and cultural exchanges during the sessions.

Witnessed by Madam Yandong Liu, the vice Prime Minister of China, the XIN Center was founded in Israel on May 20, 2014. The goal is to take advantage of University scientific research capabilities and leadership positions in education to build a transnational interdisciplinary innovation platform. XIN aims to become a platform for the international exchange of innovative scientific research and technologies; become a platform for transformation of cutting-edge technology into marketable application; become a platform for the education and nurturing of scientists and technology developers. For more than a year, the XIN Center has brought together several outstanding entrepreneurs, technical teams and career guidance teams with the strong support of Tsinghua University, Tel Aviv University, and the government and business communities in both countries. XIN has attracted the world's top venture capital institutions and signed a number of strategic partnership agreements. Multiple projects incubated by the XIN Center have achieved fruitful results.

The forum is co-held by Tsinghua University, Tel Aviv University and the Embassy of Israel, undertaken by the XIN Center of Tsinghua University and co-organized by China Fortune Land Development Co. Ltd.
